LC Baseball Cruises to 29-4 Victory Over Virginia University of Lynchburg
LYNCHBURG, VA – Registering 21 hits and taking advantage of seven errors, the Lynchburg College baseball team defeated the Virginia University of Lynchburg 29-4 in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon on Fox Field.
Fourteen different Hornet hitters registered an RBI in the game, with junior Michael Del Buono and freshman JP Nicholas, Jr. leading Lynchburg with three RBI each. Freshman Charlie Thieringer pitched five innings while only giving up five hits and striking out two, earning his second win of the season.
Lynchburg started the game with four runs in the bottom of the first before VUL tallied a run in the top of the third to make the score 4-1. LC added one in the bottom of the third and after a VUL run in the top of the fourth, LC dropped eight runs in the frame, extending the score to 13-2.
The Dragons scored twice in the top of the fifth, which was answered by the Hornets with three in the bottom of the frame, making the score 16-4. LC added four more in the bottom of the seventh and nine in the bottom of the eighth, ending with a 29-4 final score.
Junior Ashton Paige, sophomore Zach Fitzpatrick, junior Michael Burks, freshman Joe Rogers, junior Dan Savage, freshman Joe Knight and freshman Brandon Doggett each registered two RBI each in the game. Freshman Dustin Arrowood, freshman Jay Kenyon, freshman Kyle Bridges, junior Michael Kenah and senior Ragan Rudisill all added an RBI as well.
Bryan Kennedy and Tyler Bean each had an RBI for Virginia University of Lynchburg (0-2).
Lynchburg (5-2) heads to Christopher Newport University on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. matchup.
