Savage and Garrett Named ODAC Players of the Week
FOREST, VA – Lynchburg College baseball garnered both Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) players of the week as announced by the conference office on Monday. Junior third basemen Dan Savage was named the player of the week, while senior Robert Garrett was honored as the pitcher of the week.
This is the fourth straight week that LC has had a player named the ODAC baseball player of the week and the second straight week a Hornet pitcher has taken the award.
Savage had a huge week at the plate, highlighted by a 5-5 performance in the second game against Bridgewater College. In that offensive display, he had two three-run homeruns while adding two doubles and a single along with another RBI for a total of seven in the game. He also plated two other runs during the week and crossed home a total of four times. He hit .467 during the week and is hitting .425 this season. Savage leads the ODAC in doubles (17), is tied for first in RBI (39) and is third in the conference in hits (51).
Garrett turned in his finest performance all season on Saturday by pitching seven strong innings against Bridgewater College. He limited the Eagles to only four hits without relinquishing a win. Garrett issued only one walk and struck out six. Garrett is fifth in the ODAC in wins (4).
Lynchburg (26-6/11-2 ODAC) will look to win its thirteenth-straight game on Wednesday when the team heads to Hampden-Sydney College for a game at 3:30 p.m.
