Four Hornets Earn ABCA All-Region Honors
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team had four players honored on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-South Region team as announced this week by the ABCA.
An All-ODAC (Old Dominion Athletic Conference) First Team selection, Savage had a standout junior season in which he hit .399 on the season while tallying 67 hits and 40 runs with 20 doubles. He also had three triples and two home runs while driving in 48 RBI. Savage who ranked high in the ODAC and in NCAA Division III in several offensive categories had a 97 total bases while slugging .577 on the season.
One of the top shortstops in the conference, Kenah maintained a batting average of .372 and tied with Savage for first on the team with 67 hits on the season. He also scored 41 runs and batted in 42 RBI while recording 15 doubles, three triples and two homeruns.
Garrett earns an All-Region Second Team selection after a solid senior campaign in which he went 8-1 on the season while pitching in a total of 82 innings. Garrett finished the season with a 2.85 ERA while recording 52 strikeouts. He pitched two complete games in the ODAC Tournament, including the ODAC championship game which LC won 2-1.
Miller had a stellar freshman season where he finished with a record of 8-1 in 72.0 innings pitched while owning an ERA of 1.88. The Vesuvius, Virginia native started three games which included a two-hit, complete game performance against Emory & Henry College in the ODAC Tournament. Miller also had four saves on the year while only giving up 26 hits on the season.
Lynchburg finished the season with a 34-10 overall record with a 14-4 mark in the ODAC. Ranked as high as No.16 in the nation, the Hornets won the ODAC title in 2012 for the first time since 1990.
