Three Hornets Honored on All-State Baseball Team

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Rob Tomasulo was named to the first-team and Lincoln Evans and Brandon Miller garnered second-team spots Thursday with the release of the 2014 College Division All-State baseball teams, voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).

Tomasulo, a First Team All-ODAC and third-team all-region catcher, batted .393 on the season. He drove in 24 runs, scored 34 more and hit a pair of homers. The numbers were some of the best for a catcher in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and the region. He also caught 32.4% of would-be base stealers.

Evans, the leadoff hitter for the Hornets, was a Second-Team All-ODAC and Third-Team All-South Region selection. He batted .367 and drove in 30 RBI. He also led the team with 39 runs, 14 doubles and tied for the lead with 11 stolen bases. Defensively, he maintained a .977 fielding percentage while making just two errors all season.

Miller took home first-team All-ODAC accolades in late April, and was the ace of the LC staff. The right-hander was 9-4 on the season with two saves, four complete games and a 2.70 ERA. Miller led the conference in innings pitched (93.1), was second in wins and was ninth in ERA.

The Hornets ended the season as one of the top offensive teams in the nation while posting a record of 24-13.
