Two Hornet Baseball Players Named to CVCL All-Star Team

HICKORY, NC – Lynchburg College rising seniors Lincoln Evans and Martin Henderlite have been selected to compete this weekend in the Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League (CVCL) All-Star Game at LP Frans Stadium in Hickory, NC.

First pitch for the 2014 CVCL All-Star Game is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. this Saturday. The CVCL's Grey All-Stars consists of players from the Charlotte Crushers, Fuquay Varina Twins, New River Roadrunners, Carolina Pirates, and the Kernersville Bulldogs.  Representatives for the Blue All-Stars will come from the Catawba Valley Stars, Mooresville Spinners, Montreat Mountaineers, and Roanoke Rails. 

Both Hornets are on the Roanoke Rails. Evans is hitting .261 with an on-base percentage of .404. In 17 games so far this season, he has scored eight times and has ripped four doubles and a triple. Henderlite boasts a microscopic 0.89 ERA in his three starts. Through 15.2 innings, the right-hander has 14 strikeouts and a .222 batting average against (12 hits).

"It's great to hear both Lincoln and Martin made the CVCL All-Star team," said Lynchburg College head coach Percy Abell. "We're excited to see they both are playing extremely well and representing our baseball program here at Lynchburg in such a prestigious event. The coaching staff is proud of both Martin and Lincoln and we wish them continued success the rest of the summer."
