Around the Horn

The Hornets went down 3-0 in the 3rd inning but had multiple chances to get runs across but left over 10 runners on base, falling to the Pacers on Wednesday afternoon

Game Breakdown

- William Peace took an early 3-0 lead after Mikey Anerton singled through the left side to score two, followed by a wild pitch which scored another run

- The Pacers added a run in the top of the 5th and 8th innings to extend their lead to 5-0

- Senior Ryan Katona hit a liner in the bottom of the 8th that went straight to the third baseman. The Pacer player misplayed it and the ball glanced off his glove and went rolling into the foul area down the left field line, allowing freshman Colin Corey to score from second

- Junior Ryan Irby got the start, throwing two scoreless innings allowing one hit and striking out one Pacer

- Freshman Nick Norman pitched a solid 2.0 innings of relief, walking one batter but sending two William Peace batters back to the dugout on strikes

Lynchburg will head up north to WInchester, Va. to take on the Hornets of the North from Shenandoah University. The Battle of the Hornets is set for a double-header, with the first game getting underway at 12:00 p.m.
