Baseball's opener with SVU postponed again

Lynchburg, Va. -- Lynchburg College's baseball team will have to wait a little longer to begin the 2018 season.

With field conditions unplayable on Fox Field after Lynchburg received more than a half-inch of rain and ice Wednesday, Friday's season-opener with Southern Virginia has been postponed once again to be made up at a later date.

The contest was originally scheduled as a Saturday doubleheader on the campus of the Buena Vista-based college but was preemptively moved to Friday at LC to avoid rain in the forecast this coming weekend. Mother Nature had other plans, though, causing the schools to postpone indefinitely.

Lynchburg is now scheduled to begin the season at Methodist, Wednesday, Feb. 14 in Fayetteville, N.C.
