Elizabeth Seidel Hired as LC Assistant Field Hockey Coach
LYNCHBURG, VA – Elizabeth Seidel was recently named the full-time assistant for the Lynchburg College field hockey team.
Seidel has worked with the Hornet program the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant. She has served as the lead coach for FUNdamental Field Hockey, a program designed to help build awareness of the sport in the local community and teach basic skills.
Seidel has coached at numerous camps and clinics and served as the head coach for Salem High School (Virginia Beach) in 2009.
"I am excited to have an experienced coach joining us," said LC head field hockey coach Enza Steele. "Her club and high school coaching experience will be a great addition to our program. Liz has been coached by one of the best, Denise Zelenak, the National Indoor Field Hockey Coach, and this wealth of knowledge will help expand and strengthen our player's abilities. Liz has a lot of energy and enthusiasm and I look forward to having her join us."
A 2006 graduate of Drexel University, Seidel was a four-year starter at left forward for the Dragons. She led the team in goals scored in 2004, and served as the team captain as a senior. She tied for the team lead in assists in her final campaign and is on the Drexel career leader board for goals scored.
"I'm so excited to be joining a tradition of excellence here, on and off the field," said Seidel. "Having lived in Lynchburg for just over two years, I see all this amazing city has to offer and I'm happy to call not only Lynchburg my home, but now Lynchburg College as well.
"I know the players have a National Championship on their radar, and it's my hope that we will achieve that goal together."
