Men's basketball upsets Norfolk State in exhibition

Logan Seacrist flexes his muscles at midnight madness.

Norfolk, Va. -- Lynchburg College's men's basketball program is making waves across the Commonwealth, and the Hornets haven't even played a regular-season game yet.

In an exhibition contest Monday night, Lynchburg pulled off an 83-80 upset of NCAA Division I Norfolk State at the Spartans' Echols Center. The game did count toward NSU's regular-season record.

Three Hornets finished in double figures, led by Connor Schroeder's (Blacksburg, Va.) 18-point effort. Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) chipped in 16 points, and Logan Seacrist (Fredericksburg, Va.) added 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks for LC. Freshman Reggie Davis (Greensboro, N.C.) scored nine points off the bench.

Norfolk State out-rebounded the Hornets 49-32, but Lynchburg's defense forced 26 Spartan turnovers. LC also sank 12 3-pointers -- Seacrist had three of them -- to spark a second-half comeback.

Norfolk State led 47-37 at halftime.

Lynchburg opens the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 18 at McDaniel. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
