Men's basketball gets back on track with win over Shenandoah

Lynchburg, Va. –  The Lynchburg College men's basketball team defeated Shenandoah, 90-76, collecting another Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory Saturday in Turner Gymnasium.

Senior forward Connor Schroeder (Blacksburg, Va.) led the Hornets with 32 points, reaching a new career high, along with seven rebounds and three assists. Junior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) played strong defense, gaining nine rebounds and two steals to go with 14 points. Sophomore guard Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.) was one of the four Hornets to score in the double digits with 13 points, 12 of which were from behind the arc. Freshman forward T.C. Thacker (Madison Heights, Va.) also reached double figures with a 10-point performance.

  • The first half proved tough for both teams as they battled it out for the lead resulting in six lead changes in the first 5:00. With 7:00 remaining, the teams were tied, 20-20, until a 3-pointer by Logan Seacrist (Fredericksburg, Va.) put the Hornets up, and then a layup made by Thacker secured the lead. Lynchburg went into the half ahead, 51-37.

  • Lynchburg kept up the momentum after halftime. Greene scored his fourth consecutive 3-pointer in the 18th minute and increased the Hornets lead to 56-41. Wrighten, Seacrist, and junior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) all went 2-for-2 at the free throw line in the second half, giving the Hornets an extra six points on the board.



The Hornets will hit the road for Greensboro, N.C. next, matching up against Guilford at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
