Hornet Golf Wins Shipbuilder Tournament

WILLIAMSBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College team captured the title Tuesday at the two-day Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial Golf Tournament, hosted by the Newport News Apprentice School at the Williamsburg Club. Nine schools competed in the event, with LC posting a score of 629, followed by Ferrum College with 631 and the Apprentice School with 652.

Senior Conrad Anguera tied for the individual best score, but lost a two-hole playoff to Ferrum's Scott Obenshain to determine a champion. Each player finished with 153 strokes on the par 71 course, with Anguera firing a 74 on Monday and 79 Tuesday.

Junior Matt Lipscomb carded a two-day total of 160, as did junior Santi Anguera. Junior Dusty Scott and freshman Patrick Franklin each had scores of 162.

The Hornets will compete April 22-24 at the 2012 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships at Bay Creek Resort and Club in Cape Charles, VA.
