The Lynchburg College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our Hornet of the Week. The twenty-eighth student-athlete in this series is senior golfer Conrad Anguera.
Anguera tied for the individual best score with a mark of 153 strokes on the par 71 course, with Anguera firing a 74 on Monday and 79 Tuesday at the two-day Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial Golf Tournament, hosted by the Newport News Apprentice School at the Williamsburg Club last week. He helped LC capture the tournament title with an impressive showing and nearly took the top mark before falling in a two-hole playoff.
Why did you choose Lynchburg College?
I chose Lynchburg College because of the welcoming environment and the small campus. The small classroom sizes and attention received by our teachers is a great plus. LC also provided me with the chance to play on a competitive golf team with great teammates.
What is your favorite moment thus far as a Hornet?
My favorite moments as a Hornet have come from being on the golf team. Being able to travel to different golf tournaments around the state and compete against high ranking schools has been a great experience.
What do you like most about LC golf?
The LC golf team is a very relaxed and focused team where all of us work towards one common goal, winning ODACs. We get to practice and travel together allowing us to improve team relations and share memorable experiences. Also, throughout my career on the LC golf team, I have been able to work with two very supportive golf coaches, Dr. Kuchler and currently Coach Stephen Smith. Both coaches have made my experience better than I would have ever expected.
What are your aspirations after graduation?
After I graduate I hope to find a job in my business administration field and continue to play golf. If these two goals come true, I will be a happy camper.
