No. 9 Lynchburg Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Marywood 17-2
LYNCHBURG, VA – Utilizing a balanced offense, the No.9 Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team defeated Marywood University 17-2 in non-conference action on Wednesday night.
Led by senior Dylan Hoff, who scored four goals and four assists, 11 different players found the back of the net for Lynchburg. Senior Ben Sauer and juniors Pat Ohrem and Max Voumard each had two goals apiece.
LC scored the first two goals of the game with Voumard and Hoff each converting early to put the Hornets up 2-0 by the 9:42 mark of the first quarter. Marywood's Greg Nester scored at 9:29 to make it 2-1, but LC rattled off two more goals for a 4-1 advantage going into the second quarter.
Ohrem and senior Andrew Wilfong scored in the second, and then with LC leading 6-1, Marywood added its second goal at 3:09.
The Hornets tallied two more goals before halftime with both coming from Sauer, giving Lynchburg a 8-2 lead at half.
Lynchburg controlled the rest of the game, registering six goals in the third quarter including three in a row from Hoff. Senior Matt Manzo, freshman Andrew Blundin and freshman Todd Galvin and all scored in the quarter as well.
Senior Franc Cook made three saves in three quarters of action in goal. Fellow senior Matt Jernack controlled the face-off circle, winning 11 out of 18. Leading the way in groundballs was junior Joe Lisicky who registered seven while sophomore Jon Gill caused a team-high six turnovers.
Nicholas Cornella made 15 saves for Marywood (0-2).
Lynchburg (4-1) hosts No.4 Stevenson University on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
