Q&A With Hornet of the Week Franc Cook

The Lynchburg College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our Hornet of the Week. The twenty-third student-athlete in this series is senior men's lacrosse goalie Franc Cook.

Cook earned two wins in goal last week for Lynchburg, making three saves in a win over Marywood University and making seven saves while weathering 27 shots in LC's 6-3 win over No.4 Stevenson University. Cook relinquished only five goals all week in both wins. He ranks first in the ODAC in save percentage (.667) and in goals against average (5.95) while ranking second in total saves (62). He is 19th in goals against average and 15th in save percentage in NCAA Division III.

Why did you choose Lynchburg College?
I chose Lynchburg based on the fact that I loved the small school environment. I felt that being at a small school would help me excel academically and personally because of the connection that I could have with the professors. It was also the only school that would have allowed me to be an athlete and major in Athletic Training.

What are your expectations for the season?
My expectations for the season are win the rest of the regular season, crush the ODAC, and then make a statement in the NCAA tournament.

What do you like most about LC men's lacrosse?
What I like most about LC men's lacrosse is the great sense of family. When I came here for my recruiting visit, I noticed that everyone was treated as equal and it seemed like a group of great friends. There is nothing is better than winning with your best friends. That was what I was looking for in a lacrosse team.

What is your favorite class or teacher?
I would have to say that I have two favorite professors, Dr. Bradney and Dr. Aronson in the Athletic Training Department. They have helped me through great obstacles in my college career and without them, I would not be where I am right now. I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for me.
