#6 LC Men's Lacrosse Wins Fifth-Straight, 11-5 over McDaniel
LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore midfielder Thomas Rodenhouse netted three goals Wednesday evening as the sixth-ranked Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team defeated McDaniel College 11-5 in non-conference play.
The Green Terror hung tough early, answering LC goals from Rodenhouse and senior midfielder Matt Manzo with two of their own, from DJ Rickels and JS Duke. The Hornets rattled off the next three goals, two from junior attack Pat Ohrem, to take a 5-2 lead. Rickels scored again for McDaniel just before the end of the first to cut the LC edge to 5-3.
Lynchburg dominated the middle periods, scoring six-straight times to take a commanding 11-3 lead. The Hornet defense kept the Green Terror off the board until a late third-quarter tally from Duke, a scoreless stretch of 27:14. Matt Dupras netted the fourth quarter's only score for McDaniel to produce the final result.
Ohrem had two goals and two assists for Lynchburg, while senior attack Andrew Wilfong and freshman attack Andrew Blundin each had a goal and an assist. Senior Dylan Hoff, junior Vin Curran and freshman Cullan Ganley also found the back of the net for LC.
Lynchburg out-shot McDaniel 43-24 and forced 19 turnovers. Rickels and Duke each scored twice for McDaniel, and face-off man Ryan Gillen won 10 of 18 draws. Christian Dallmus made 18 saves for the Green Terror (4-3), while senior Franc Cook made 10 stops.
The Hornets (6-1) open the 2012 Old Dominion Athletic Conference season with a huge contest at #13 Roanoke College Saturday at 7 p.m.
