#3 Men's Lacrosse Downs Randolph-Macon 23-8

LYNCHBURG, VA – Powered by a 12-goal second quarter, the third-ranked Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team outscored visiting Randolph-Macon College 23-8 Saturday evening in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest. 

The Yellow Jackets drew first blood as Jake Leddy scored from Tyler Midwinter at 10:17. The Hornets took a 4-1 lead after goals from four different scorers, and R-MC scored again before the end of the period. Senior Dylan Hoff found the back of the net to open the second quarter, but Randolph-Macon scored back-to-back goals to crawl back to just a 5-4 deficit. The Hornet offense exploded for 10-straight tallies over the next eight minutes and 12 seconds, three from Hoff, to take a commanding 16-4 advantage.

Leading 16-5 after intermission, LC put the game out of reach with the only four goals of the third quarter. 

Hoff finished with five goals, while junior attack Pat Ohrem posted three goals and two assists. Senior Andrew Wilfong had two goals and two assists, while junior Vin Curran, freshman Andrew Blundin and freshman Cullan Ganley each found the back of the net twice. Junior Max Voumard had a goal and two assists while sophomore Thomas Rodenhouse tallied a goal and an assist. Joe Lisicky, Matt Manzo, Campbell Armstrong, Mike Rhea and Todd Galvin also scored for LC.

Leddy and Brian Rowe each had two goals for Randolph-Macon (9-5/3-2 ODAC).

Senior Matt Jernack, senior Jeff Schwartz and sophomore Mike Rhea combined to win 20 of the game's 34 face-offs. Jernack grabbed a game-high eight ground balls while Schwartz corralled seven. Senior Franc Cook made eight saves in net in just under 40 minutes, allowing just five scores.

The Hornets (12-1/5-0) look to extend their winning streak to 12 games Wednesday, hosting non-conference foe Christopher Newport University at 7 p.m.
