Q and A with Hornet of the Week Aaron Murphy
The Lynchburg College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our Hornet of the Week. The 28th student-athlete selected this year is men's lacrosse sophomore Aaron Murphy.
Murphy netted eight goals over the weekend, including a career-high five against Guilford College in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener for the Hornets. He tied for the team lead with three goals against Colorado College to secure a 2-0 week for Lynchburg.
You made your first career start on Saturday against a tough team in Gettysburg. What were the nerves like when they scored two early goals? How did your confidence grow as you made save after save and your team pulled ahead by a wide margin?
What suits my game so well is how everyone gets their turn to dodge in the offense and just how well everyone meshes together. It is a lot of fun to run this offense with all the guys and everyone seems to know what the others are going to do. It all works out so well.
What is your favorite thing about Lynchburg men's lacrosse?
My favorite thing about Lynchburg men's lacrosse is definitely the camaraderie between all the guys.
What do you like most about Lynchburg College?
I like that it is a smaller school and I am not just another number in the crowd. Also, how we get to know our professors and can work with them to get the best education possible.
In your mind, what does it mean to be a student-athlete and how has Lynchburg helped you out?
To me it means putting your school work first and completing it to the best of your ability while playing a college sport. Lynchburg has helped me out because my professors are very understanding if I have to miss class because of lacrosse and they work with me to catch up with my work.
