Lynchburg, Va. - #16 Men's Lacrosse set for a 7 pm semifinal showdown with rival #15 Roanoke Friday night.
In a battle of top 20 rivals, Lynchburg men's lacrosse will play the neutral site semi-final at 7 pm tonight on the campus of host and top-seeded Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. The Generals host Hampden–Sydney in the 4 pm semi-final with the winners set for a 7 pm Saturday championship game.
Head coach Steve Koudelka's Hornets come in riding an 8 game win streak including a quarterfinal 9-5 win over Randolph-Macon on Tuesday night. The Hornets have been led all year by a balanced attack and strong play on the defensive end anchored by the play of junior goalie CJ Santora.
In the first meeting of the year, the teams traded runs with Lynchburg leading 10-8 at the half and Roanoke responding with a strong third quarter to take a 14-13 lead into the final period. The Hornets closed out the 17-16 win with a senior Harrison Brennan goal at the 3:52 mark.
