Virginia Beach, Va-- The Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team secured its fourth Old Dominion Athletic Conference win of the season Saturday with a 28-8 victory over the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan.
The Hornets were led by junior attackman Evan Lombardo (Franklin Park, N.J.), who scored six goals and made one assist. Lombardo now leads the ODAC with 46 goals.
Freshman midfielders Clayton Jones (Lynchburg, Va.) and Owen Thoreck (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) had strong showings, each scoring three goals for Lynchburg. Senior attackman Colin McGuire (Odenton, Md.) collected three assists and added one goal for the Hornets.
Lynchburg's 28 goals were the most in a single game in program history.

How It Happened
After a 2-2 tie in the first four minutes, Lynchburg took charge and went on a eight-point scoring binge. Lombardo scored five of his six goals in the first with assists from McGuire and from senior Eric Corella (Ashburn, Va.).
The Hornets extended the lead with nine more goals in the second quarter. Thoreck collected three consecutive goals to lead LC to a 19-5 halftime lead.
Freshman midfielder Andrew Carpenter (Salem, N.J.) scored his first-career goal, unassisted, in the third quarter.
The Hornets will travel across the way Wednesday, April 18 to face off with the WildCats of Randolph College at 7 p.m. in Lynchburg.
