Hornet Men and Randolph Battle to 0-0 Double Overtime Tie

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's soccer team and Randolph College fought 110 minutes to a 0-0 double overtime tie in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game at Randolph Wednesday evening.

Both teams dueled for 90 scoreless minutes in regulation, with LC firing eight shots to Randolph's seven. The Hornets held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks through the first two halves of soccer.

In the first extra session, the Hornets put the pressure on the WildCat defense in the early going, with a flurry of four shots and two corner kicks in the first three minutes of action. Randolph's CJ Stevens made a save and the other three attempts were blocked. RC had a chance with one minute left in the first OT, but LC junior Michael Releford made a leaping save.

Randolph had two chances for the win in the second bonus period, with a shot hitting the post and Releford turning away a second attempt.

For the game, Lynchburg held advantages of 12-11 in total shots and 10-5 in corner kicks. Releford made five saves for LC and Stevens turned away six shots for Randolph (3-3-2/1-1-1 ODAC).

The Hornets (2-5-2/1-0-2) travel to Randolph-Macon College Saturday for another ODAC game at 3 p.m.
