Friedberg, McLaurin earn men's soccer Academic All-District

Greenwood, Ind. -- University of Lynchburg's men's soccer program saw two seniors named Google Cloud Academic All-District, the College Sports Information Directors announced Thursday.

Senior midfielder Dan Friedberg (Blacksburg, Va.) and senior goalkeeper Dylan McLaurin (Stafford, Va.) were both included on the 13-member District 5 team. The honor makes them eligible for Academic All-America, which will be released December 4.

Friedberg, an economics major and mathematics minor, started every match in the Hornets' midfield this season and scored a career-high three goals and four assists. A third-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference selection and the league's scholar-athlete of the year in men's soccer, he carries a cumulative GPA of 3.91 as a member of the Westover Honors College.

McLaurin is a three-year starter in goal for the Hornets and holds the program record for career goals-against average. He and the Lynchburg defense allowed just 10 goals this season as he led the ODAC with 11 shutouts. The international relations major and Latin American studies minor holds a GPA of 3.62.

Lynchburg's men's soccer team finished the season with a 13-2-2 record and an 8-1-1 mark in the ODAC.
