The Lynchburg College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our Hornet of the Week. The 27th student-athlete selected this year is men's tennis junior Matt Karvelas.
Matt had an impressive week for the Hornets, going 4-2 in the three matches LC played. Him and his doubles partner, Tyler Long, dropped only three games combined in their two wins at home. Matt's singles matches were closer, but he managed to defeat the number one from both Roanoke College and Randolph College in three sets.
1. How did it feel to go 4-0 in your home ODAC matches, and helping the team defeat Randolph on Friday?
It felt phenomenal to go 4-0 last week at home in two big ODAC matches. The only thing that felt better was getting our first ODAC team win of the year on Friday against Randolph. Hopefully that win will evoke confidence throughout our team to finish strong before the ODAC tournament later this month.
2. What do you like most about LC tennis?
The thing I like most about our tennis program here are the courts and bleacher seating that we have bringing in a vast array of fans.
3. Why did you choose Lynchburg College?
Choosing Lynchburg College was an easy decision. I enjoy the short walks to every location that I have to travel along with the simplest of walks to the tennis courts.
4. How did the tennis team affect your decision to attend Lynchburg College?
The Lynchburg College tennis team was an additional benefit to an already impressive and reputable college.
