Yellow Jackets Defeat LC Men on Senior Day
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's tennis faced Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday for Senior Day, falling 8-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
Fitting for Senior Day, the two Hornet seniors, Derek Kegerreis and Owen Landon teamed up at #1 doubles and competed well, winning five games against Connor Hoerr and Michael Baxter of R-MC. Matt Karvelas and Tyler Long were successful at #3 doubles, winning 8-2, while Blake Underwood and Josh Johnson lost a close doubles match at the #2 spot 8-5.
Karvelas also played well at #1 singles, garnering three wins in the first set and four wins in the second. Kegerreis battled at the #2 singles spot in a match that came down to the wire, but lost a close one, 7-5, 1-6, 6-7 (3-7). Johnson also played at #4 singles and was able to win five overall games, while Kevin Lee notched four games in the first set and two games in the second at #6 singles.
The Hornet men (4-9/1-8 ODAC) will be back in action for their final match of the year when they will travel to face Shenandoah University in ODAC play on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
