LC Men Defeated by Shenandoah in Final Match of Spring
WINCHESTER, VA – The Lynchburg College men's tennis team capped off the 2013 season with 7-2 loss against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Shenandoah University on Wednesday.
Matt Karvelas and Tyler Long competed together at #2 doubles and captured a 9-7 win. Long also played at #4 singles and was able to score a victory by winning 7-6(5) in the first set and taking the second set by default after opponent Vladimir Daskalov had to default after a 5-5 score. Karvelas was able to win three games in the second set against Michael Milanov of Shenandoah at #1 singles, while Owen Landon took one game in the first set and two in the second at #2 singles. Josh Johnson played well at #3 singles, winning six overall game and Blake Underwood put on a good showing at #6 singles, winning five games overall.
Karvelas competed at #1 singles all year for the Hornets and was able to win five matches at the top spot. Derek Kegerreis ended the year with three wins at the #2 singles spot and five wins at the #2 doubles spot alongside Johnson.
The Hornets ended the season with a 4-10 overall record and a 1-9 mark in ODAC play.
