Men's tennis drops to Methodist on the road

Fayetteville, N.C. -- The Lynchburg College men's tennis team took its first loss of the spring season Saturday afternoon, falling 8-1 at the hands of Methodist.

Sophomore Zack Shane (Falls Church, Va.) and freshman Luke Sablik (Vienna, Va.) earned the Hornets' lone win on the day at No. 1 doubles, defeating MU's Jacob Oehser and Reid Rose, 8-6.

Sablik fared the best in singles as well, taking Rose to a tiebreak in the first set before falling, 7-6, 6-1. The Hornet men failed to win a set in singles play.

Sophomore Juan Borga (Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA) also played admirably at No. 1 singles, suffering a 6-3, 6-2 defeat to the Monarchs' RJ Clement.

The Hornet men fall to 1-1 on the young season. Lynchburg will hit the court again on Sunday, Feb. 18, when they play host to Ferrum. The match will be played at the indoor Crosswhite Athletic Club in Lynchburg.
