Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg College men's tennis team dominated its home-opening match Sunday, besting Ferrum 9-0 at the Crosswhite Athletic Club.

The Hornets began the way with a sweep through doubles, keyed by a quartet of sweeps in the singles matches. Sophomore Zack Shane (Falls Church, Va.) led the way at No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ferrum's Marshall Owenby, and freshman Luke Sablik (Vienna, Va.), junior Nick Savino (Bristol, Conn.), and senior Colton Mullins (Appomattox, Va.) followed the way at Nos. 4 through 6.

Sophomore Juan Borga (Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA) earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles as well.

"I am so proud of our team and that our hard work is paying off," Borga said. "I also want to thank all of our friends and family who came out to support us today! We couldn't have done it without them."

The crowd also watched Borga and partner Dominick Gutierrez (Forest, Va.) cruise to an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles. Savino and senior Will Nsoesie (Boonsboro, Md.) also didn't allow a Panthers point at No. 3 doubles.

Lynchburg's men improve to 2-1 this season, a mark they'll look to further improve upon on Wednesday, Feb. 21 just over the mountain in Buena Vista, Va., at Southern Virginia.
