First Day of Lynchburg College Open Multi-Event Complete

LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College played host to the first day of the Lynchburg College Open Multi-Event on Monday, which features a men's decathlon and a women's heptathlon.

Only one Hornet took part in the heptathlon, with Katie Miller standing 11th place after four events.  Miller has registered 2147 points, with her best coming in the 100 hurdles.

On the men's side, nine members of the team competed in the first five events.  James Bell and Zachary Kezar currently sit in second and third place, with 3264 and 3258 points respectively.  Bell won the high jump, with a height of 6'5".  Kezar took the top spot in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.19.

Currently, Jared Davis of Division I East Tennessee State University leads the men's competition with a total of 3328 points.  Charlene Charles of Division I Jacksonville University is first in the heptathlon with 3299 points.  The competition will conclude on Tuesday.
