TERRA HAUTE, IN – After winning the South/Southeast Regional title two weeks ago, the Lynchburg College men's cross country team competed in the national meet on Saturday.  The Hornets finished 26th in the race with 606 total points.  North Central (Il.) College won the championship with 157 points.

Cody Stanton was the first member of the team to cross the finish line in 25:00.8.  With his place being 23rd overall, he was named an All-American for the first time in his career.

Lawrence Minor and Nolan Compton were the next two finishers for LC.  Minor ran the 8K race in 26:09.1 and Compton stopped the clock at 26:10.8, two spots behind Minor.  Evan Parry and Brian Robinson were the final two Hornets to earn points.  Parry finished at 26:43.1 and Robinson crossed the line at 26:52.3.

Stanton, Compton, Parry, and Robinson all ran their best times of the season.  Stanton and Parry's times were career bests as well, which is an impressive feat because of the meet taking place at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.  This course held the Division I National Championship for the past eight years.

Tim Nelson of Wisconsin-Stout University won the individual title in 24:26.8.

Lynchburg's season concludes with the meet, but many of the athletes will compete for the indoor track and field team.  The first meet will be at Liberty University for the Liberty Kickoff and Multi on December 1.
