Lynchburg Men Place Second in ODAC XC Championship Meet

FARMVILLE, VA – The Lynchburg College Men's cross country team competed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship meet Saturday and placed second in to rival team Bridgewater College. Hampden-Sydney College hosted the event at the Manor Golf Course. 

The first Hornet to finish was senior Anthony McBride who ran the 8k race in 26:45, good for seventh-place overall and first-team All-ODAC honors. The next two Hornets to cross the line were sophomores Tyler Timblin and Andrew Osborne who ran times of 27:27 and 27:52 which placed them 13th and 15th respectively. Timblin nabbed second-team All-ODAC accolades for finishing in the top 14. 

Freshman Drew Smith ran a time of 29:00 which placed him 27th, while senior David Brown crossed the finish line 10 seconds later to take 28th place.

Winning the individual race was Guilford's Andris Goncarovs who finished with a time of 26:19.50. Although Guilford had three runners in the top five they were not able to reach the podium. In the team standings, Bridgewater College came in first (50 team pts.), Lynchburg College second (88), and Washington and Lee University (97) third.

The Hornets will take part in the South/Southeast Regional Meet, Saturday, November 16 at Christopher Newport University.
