Fundraising and Donations Fuel Improvement to Aubrey R. Moon Field
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College softball team has been able to make several improvements to its home complex, Aubrey R. Moon, Jr. Field this spring.
Fundraising efforts from the team and the LC Hornet Club has garnered donations upwards of $25,000 from alumni, family and other friends of the program.
The Hornets installed stadium seating along the third base line, able to accommodate 112 fans comfortably. Another major improvement was the addition of a padded brick wall behind home plate, displaying a Lynchburg Softball logo.
"We are certainly very proud of how the field has progressed the last few years," said head coach Dawn Simmons. "We appreciate all of the continued support to help our program and thank the entire LC softball family. We would also like to thank the director of the physical plant, Rob Smith, the LC grounds crew and LC maintenance department for all their hard work."
"Head coach Dawn Simmons has not only been an outstanding coach, she also has been diligent in raising funds to improve the softball complex," said LC director of athletics, Dr. Jack Toms. "Moon Field certainly has undergone some positive changes."
