FOREST, VA – Lynchburg College's Cassie Phillips and Hope Johnson were named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 8. The Hornets went 6-0 for the week, sweeping doubleheaders against Averett University, Randolph-Macon College and 24th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan College.

Phillips, a senior designated player/pitcher, hit three home runs with eight RBI and boasted a slugging percentage of 1.054. Phillips powered the Hornets to a 6-1 win Sunday in game one against VWC, drilling a pair of long balls, the first a grand slam.

Johnson had a hand in five of Lynchburg's six victories. She started game one in each of the doubleheaders, earning victories in each contest. Johnson also picked up saves in the second game of the doubleheaders against the Cougars and Marlins.

The Hornets (22-5/7-1) travel to Bridgewater College Thursday afternoon for another ODAC doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
