ODAC Honors Ingram and Murphy
FOREST, VA – With the last full slate of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Players of the Week, two Lynchburg College Hornets found themselves honored by the conference office. Softball player Amber Ingram was named ODAC Pitcher of the Week and Aaron Murphy received his second Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week award this season.
Ingram went 2-0 in her two starts over the past week. Against Emory & Henry College on Wednesday, she pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing only three hits while striking out seven. On Saturday, she pitched another seven innings, and helped the Hornets earn a split in the double-header at Ferrum College. In this game she allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out six Panthers.
She also had a solid week at the plate. Ingram recorded six hits and knocked in six RBI, including two home runs. She leads the team with seven home runs and 13 wins on the year.
Murphy helped the Hornets go 2-0 on the week and tie for the top spot in the conference standings. He posted a goal and two assists in the victory over Washington and Lee University. His goal was the only man-up goal of the evening for either team. That win gave W&L its first ODAC loss and created a three-way tie for first.
During the weekend, Murphy tallied a career-high in goals, which also happened to be half of the team's goals in the 12-7 win over Randolph-Macon College. Murphy also picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers in the win. For the season he leads the team in goals (35), assists (20), and points (55).
The men's lacrosse team will play its final regular-season home game on Wednesday night against Bridgewater College at 7 p.m. The softball team has the two in the upcoming ODAC tournament which starts on Friday in Salem, VA.
