Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Lynchburg College graduate student Natalie Deacon (West Chester, Pa.) ran the fifth-fastest 1-mile time in NCAA Division III this indoor season Saturday at Wake Forest's UCS Invitational.
Deacon, who was an All-American in the mile last indoor season, ran the race in 4:57.62 to finish 18th behind all scholarship or unattached racers.
The converted time, which will be used for national seeding, was 4:54.71, which likely gets Deacon another entry into the national championships in the event.
She was seventh in the event at indoor nationals in 2017.

Deacon and the rest of the Lynchburg indoor track & field teams will suit up next Sunday, Feb. 25 at Roanoke College for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships.
