Forest, Va. -- Lynchburg College graduate student Natalie Deacon (West Chester, Pa.) has been honored as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's women's track athlete of the week, the league announced Monday.
It's the second weekly award for Deacon this year; she also won it Feb. 12 during the indoor season.
Deacon blew away the competition in the 800-meter run this weekend at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational, Lynchburg's home meet, finishing in 2:11.78. The time is the second-fastest in Division III so far this season and won the event by nearly seven seconds. It was just off her personal best, which is also the school record.
She also ran the anchor leg of Lynchburg's first-place-winning 4x400m relay over the weekend.
Deacon earned her third track & field All-America award this indoor season, when she finished sixth in the 1-mile at nationals.
