Kirtley named ODAC men's track athlete of the week

Forest, Va. -- Lynchburg College track & field's Azavier Kirtley has been honored by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference as its men's track athlete of the week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday.

A freshman from Roanoke, Va., Kirtley ran the conference's top 400-meter dash time this weekend at the William & Mary Colonial Relays, finishing the race in 48.74. It was the top ODAC time at the distance this season and ranks 10th in Division III.

He ran well in the 200-meter dash last weekend as well, coming in at 21.82 to break into the national top 15 with the conference's second-best time of the year. Kirtley also ran on the Hornets' 4x100m and sprint medley relays over the weekend.

He was the ODAC's indoor track athlete of the week for the week ending Dec. 3.
