LC Women's Basketball Picked Sixth in ODAC Preseason Poll

FOREST, VA—The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason women's basketball poll came out Thursday and Lynchburg College has found themselves sixth in this year's poll, up one spot from where they were in last year's poll.

Lynchburg comes into the 2012-13 season with a lot of new faces as five of Lynchburg's 11 players are freshmen. The Hornets return their leading scorer, sophomore Shannon Allan, part of the reason that Lynchburg is ranked sixth.

Defending ODAC Champion, Guilford, was selected first in the preseason poll while receiving eight first place votes. The division was very close between Guilford and Eastern Mennonite, last year's regular season champion, as the Royals received four first place votes.

The Hornets jumped over Washington & Lee and Hollins in the preseason polls after finishing behind the Generals and tied with Hollins at 8-12 in conference play. LC got the higher seed in the ODAC Tournament due to tiebreakers.

LC starts its season November 17 as the Hornets take on Penn State-Berks in the Dickinson Tip-Off. Lynchburg returns to Turner Gym on November 20 to take on Methodist at 7 p.m.
