Q and A with Hornet of the Week Chaney Forbush

The Lynchburg College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our Hornet of the Week. The 15th student-athlete selected this year is women's basketball freshman Chaney Forbush.

Chaney helped the Hornets to two wins this past week, including a victory over ODAC rival Hollins University.  In that win, she scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds.  The forward has helped LC to its best record since the 2007-2008 season.

Why did you choose Lynchburg College?
I chose Lynchburg because the campus was beautiful and as soon as I stepped on campus I could see myself attending school here. It felt like home and everybody was so nice. I love how it takes 5 minutes at most to get anywhere on campus and the small class sizes are another benefit. Coach Pyzik was also a huge part of the reason I came to Lynchburg. She was the exact type of coach I wanted to play for and I loved her attitude towards basketball and changing the women's basketball program here at LC.

What is your favorite moment thus far as a Hornet?
My favorite moment thus far as a hornet was beating Randolph-Macon. It was a great win for the program and we haven't beaten them in years. I think we played really well as a team and it was the best feeling to be 1-0 after the first conference game. I also chipped my front tooth in that game, so it will definitely be a memorable game in the season.

What do you like most about LC women's basketball?
My favorite thing about LC women's basketball is that we are like a family. There is not one person I can't go to on the team if I ever had a problem. I love how we can have fun, but when we need to get stuff done we can focus and get it done. I also love just hanging out with the whole team because we always have so much fun and there is never a boring moment.

What are your aspirations after graduation?
I am majoring in communications and minoring in sports management here at LC. I want to work as a sports reporter and I would love to work for ESPN one day.
