Shannon Allan Scores 26 as LC Women Defeat E&H 64-46
LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore Shannon Allan scored 22 of her game-high 26 points in the second half to lead the Lynchburg College women's basketball to a 64-46 victory over Emory & Henry College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
The Hornets led by as many as 11 in the first half, and held a 20-9 advantage with seven minutes remaining. Emory & Henry closed the gap to just three (20-17) with an 8-0 run over the next six minutes behind six points from Michelle Williams. Hornet junior center Caleigh Patterson scored on a lay-up before intermission to break a scoreless streak of 6:08.
The game was tight after halftime, as LC couldn't extend the lead. Lynchburg finally broke the game open in the final 11:30 with a 15-3 run. Allan scored 10 points during the surge and the Hornets led by double digits the rest of the way.
Allan drilled 3-of-5 three-point attempts and was 10-of-16 overall from the floor. She added five blocked shots, four rebounds and two assists. Senior guard Shea Kelley had 12 points, four assists and four steals and sophomore forward Lauren Penley contributed nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Freshman Chaney Forbush added six points and six rebounds.
Williams finished with 15 points, five rebounds and four three-pointers, three from very long distance, for E&H (7-9/4-4). Kristie Langley posted 12 points and nine rebounds.
The Hornets (10-6/5-3) travel to Hollins University Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
