Marymount Defeats LC Women 81-54 Despite 27 from Shannon Allan


ARLI NGTON, VA - The Marymount University women's basketball team used a strong defensive effort Saturday to earn an 81-54 over visiting Lynchburg College in the consolation game of the Marymount Tip-Off Tournament. 

The Saints led 36-26 at halftime and pulled away early in the second half. Hornet junior forward Shannon Allan led all scorers with 27 points, sinking 11 of her 18 field-goal attempts, and added five rebounds.

The other Hornets weren't as fortunate against the strong Marymount defense, shooting just seven of 46 (15%) and 0-9 from three-point land. Caleigh Patterson totaled nine points and five rebounds while Sammi Goldsmith had six points, five assists and four boards.


Aileen Maknati posted 24 points for the Saints (1-1). Katelyn Fischer had 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Miranda Krott tallied nine points, 14 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocked shots.


Lynchburg (0-2) hosts Shenandoah University Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
