Q and A with Hornet of the Week Caleigh Patterson
The Lynchburg College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our Hornet of the Week. The 18th student-athlete selected this year is women's basketball senior Caleigh Patterson.
Patterson had a solid line against North Carolina Wesleyan College on Friday with five points, five rebounds, and four assists. Her scoring and rebounding averages have increased this year as she has provided key senior leadership in the post.
You are one of two seniors on the team and the only one that plays in the post. How has your role changed this year now that you are one of the more seasoned players?
Being a more seasoned player, my role has definitely changed to more of a leadership position. My role is to stay calm throughout games and make good decisions.
What is your favorite thing about Lynchburg women's basketball?
My favorite thing about the women's basketball program at Lynchburg is the sense of family. We are a close-knit group and will stand by each other through hard times and good times.
What do you like most about Lynchburg College?
I like the sense of community that is here at Lynchburg College. I feel very much supported by the school and have made some very good friends here at LC. I love seeing my friends at home games and I also love supporting other athletes at their games.
In your mind, what does it mean to be a student-athlete and how has Lynchburg helped you out?
In my mind, I think being a student-athlete means using your time and focus on school and sports to excel in both. Lynchburg has helped me out by providing very good professors and coaches to push me forward and do well in everything I do.
