On Sunday, January 19, 2014 the Lynchburg College women's basketball team hosted a clinic for girls in the Lynchburg community and surrounding areas. Nearly 30 girls attended the session and spent the afternoon getting to know and learning from the current Lynchburg College student-athletes.
The event was a great opportunity for the members of the LC women's basketball team to be a part of the community and something bigger than themselves. Turner Gymnasium was filled with the sounds of basketballs bouncing, laughter, and cheering as the members of the community participated in station work that consisted of shooting, passing, dribbling, and defense. Stations were led by the student athletes and rotated every ten minutes.
Finally, participants were invited to tour the Hornet women's basketball team room and learn more about life as a college athlete. The event ended with trivia questions which lead to participation in a "Hornet Hunt" for Lynchburg College prizes. The day was extremely rewarding experience for all those involved. Members of the Lynchburg College women's basketball team enjoyed teaching young members of the community and bonding over their common passion for basketball.
