Last Time Out

A tightly contested first half saw Lynchburg and Hollins seperated by 6 points, in the Hornets favor. Both teams stumbled out of the gate but were able to get settled in during the second quarter and the score would be 32-26 going into half. Coming out of the locker room, the next 20 minutes would be all Hornets. Lynchburg's defense perked up and held Hollins to 14 points the next two quarters and extended their lead to as much as 24 in the second half. Senior Charmaine Hairston pitched in with 13 points, going 2-4 from deep, to go along with three assists and four rebounds while fellow senior Sarah Coronel set a career high with 15 rebounds on the night (5 off/10 def) to go along with eight points and two steals as well.

The Hornets and Battling Bishops fought hard in a close first quarter but for the second straight game Lynchburg bounced back after a slow start and took control of the game, outscoring N.C. Wesleyan 19-4 in the second quarter. Following the break, the teams found a groove in the third quarter but the Hornets were too far out in front for any type of comeback and the Lynchburg Women's Basketball departed Rocky Mount with a 21-point victory. Becoming a scoring machine down low, junior Caroline Naumann scored 18 points while also recording four steals and three assists while the 6th Man for the Hornets, sophomore Molly Shephard netted 14 points while ripping down seven boards and swatting one shot Saturday evening.
