CNU Defeats LC Women's Lax 19-13

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Despite four goals and an assist each from senior attack Lesley Buckingham and junior attack Kendall Adkin, the Christopher Newport University women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Lynchburg College 19-13 in non-conference play Wednesday.

The Captains scored the game's first four goals and led 12-7 at the half. The Hornets trailed 16-13 with less than eight minutes to play, but CNU scored the last three goals of the contest.

Julie Will posted two goals for LC, while Sarah Shannon, Carley Dobson and Katie Seidel each had scores.

CNU (7-1) won its seventh-straight game, paced by Ashton Marshall with four goals and three assists. Becca Geist had four goals and two assists and Rachel Thompson tallied three goals and two assists. Jessica Singer also had three goals and Katie Vu scored twice and added two assists.

The Hornets (3-3) host Bridgewater College Saturday at 1 p.m. in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.
