Late Rally Falls Short; LC Women's Lax Falls 17-11 at Shenandoah
Adkin Nets Six
WINCHESTER, VA – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team opened a nine-goal lead Saturday afternoon and held on for a 17-11 victory over visiting Lynchburg College.
SU scored the first four goals of the game, and led 8-4 with 11:42 left in the first half. The hosts closed the half with four-straight goals to take a 12-4 edge into intermission.
Lynchburg used a 4-0 run of its own late in the contest to pull within 16-11 with 3:41 on the game clock, but could get no closer.
Senior attack Kendall Adkin scored six times for LC and added an assist. Bri Slate had three goals and three draw controls while Katherine Francis and Katie Seidel each found the back of the net once. Francis corralled six draw controls, while Julie Will had an assist and three draw controls.
Samantha Sisson matched Adkin with six goals and one assist for SU (3-1/2-0 ODAC). Corrinne Kosmowski scored four times and Liz Bereit had two goals and two assists.
Lynchburg (3-3/1-1) travels to Marymount University (VA) for non-conference action Wednesday at 4 p.m.
