Women's Lacrosse Cruises to 15-7 Victory over Vixens

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team jumped out to a quick lead en route to a 15-7 win against Sweet Briar College.  LC scored six of the first seven goals in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game on Saturday.

Kendall Adkin scored the first goal of the game at the 27:15 mark to take the initial lead, but the Vixens answered with a tally by Taylor Klos three minutes later.  The Hornets then scored six straight, with Katherine Francis netting a hat-trick in the sequence.  Olivia Hurt stopped the run and cut the lead to five, but once again Lynchburg answered back with four more scores.  SBC scored once more in the half, but LC tallied three goals to take a commanding 13-3 advantage at the intermission.

In the second half, Sweet Briar came back with four straight goals to cut the deficit to six with 15 minutes left, but that would be the last time the Vixens would score.  The LC defense stopped the Vixens the rest of the game and the offense added two more goals.

Francis finished with five goals, five draw controls, two groundballs, and two caused turnovers in a great individual effort.  Bri Slate added four goals on the day, and Adkin and Caroline Kilby each scored two goals and assisted on another in the win.  Katie Seidel and Sarah Shannon rounded out the scoring for LC.

Charlotte Davis led the Vixens (6-4 overall, 0-3 ODAC) with three goals and an assist, while goalie Caroline Baker made 15 stops in the loss.   Hornet goalie Hunter Tyson made five saves on the way to a win in her first collegiate start.

Lynchburg (5-3, 2-1) will be back in action this Wednesday in a key ODAC matchup.  LC heads to Greensboro, NC to take on Guilford College, with the game set to begin at 6 p.m.
