From the Face-Off

The Hornets opened their 2017 season against the Greensboro Pride on Saturday afternoon on Shellenberger Field. Lynchburg outshot their opponents 41 to 6 while ten different Hornets recorded at least one goal in the victory.

Game Breakdown

- Lynchburg scored first, coming just one minute into the game after senior Maddie Koontz found the back of the net

- The scoring came in bunches for the Hornets, as they would head into halftime up, 11 to 0

- The Hornets defense played outstanding, holding the Pride to only two shots in the first half

- Seven different Hornets recorded a goal in the first half alone

- After thirteen minutes of goalless play senior Laura Meisner completed her hat-trick with fourteen minutes to play in the second half, the senior attacker finished the day with a career-high five points after as she assisted on two other goals

- Sixteen minutes into the second half freshman, freshman Danielle Hook got her first collegiate goal as a Hornet

- Junior Dorrie MacGregor capped off her hat-trick with the last Hornet goal with freshman Barbara Yauss notching the assist on the score

- The lone goal scored for Greensboro came from Devan Macheras in the second half

- Hornets goalies junior Chelsea Shultis and freshman Lauren Bodamer combined for four total saves
