Second-Half Comeback Gives Hornets 2-2 Draw

SALEM, VA – The Lynchburg College women's soccer team scored two second-half goals to earn a tie with Roanoke College on Friday evening.  With the result, the Hornets remain undefeated overall and in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play this season.

The Maroons opened up the scoring just seven minutes in.  Rebekah Adams sent a cross into the box, which Carmen Graves headed in for the opener.  Less than 10 minutes later, the two combined for the second goal of the game, with Graves assisting on Adams 11th goal of the year.  LC would get three shots on goal in between the two goals, but the score remained 2-0 in favor of RC at the half.

The second stanza proved to be a different story.  Dessi Dupuy continued her torrid week, putting a shot into the left side of the net at the 54:29 mark.  Lynchburg continued its pressure on the Maroons, not allowing RC to get register one shot.  With less than 20 minutes left in regulation, Angela Bosco set up Morgan Singer for the equalizer.  Singer fired her shot in the lower left corner of the net, to even the score, and force overtime.

Heather Reynolds had the first shot of the first overtime, but Audrey Moore made the stop for the Hornets.  Kristen Melchiori took the only shot in the period for LC, but it sailed over the crossbar.

In the second overtime, Singer almost tallied her second of the evening, but a Roanoke defender cleared it off the line.  Singer would get her next shot of the period saved by Maroon goalkeeper Carolyn Sarbacher made the save.  Lynchburg earned one last corner kick with a minute remaining, but Dupuy's ensuing shot was saved by Sarbacher.

Sarbachar made 10 saves to lead the Maroons (8-4-2 overall, 6-2-1 ODAC).  The Hornets outshot the Maroons 16-3 and earned five corner kicks to the two Maroon attempts.

Lynchburg (12-0-3, 6-0-3) faces its last non-conference opponent of the season on Sunday.  The Hornets travel to Salisbury University, with the first kick coming at 1 p.m.
