Angela Bosco Scores Five Goals as LC Defeats EMU 11-0
HARRISONBURG, VA – Junior forward Angela Bosco scored a career-high five goals Wednesday night to lead the 10th-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team to an 11-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite University.
Bosco started her scoring outburst just 2:33 into the game, and netted another tally in the first 45 minutes as LC took a 5-0 lead into halftime. She tallied three second-half goals and one assist to end with 11 points on the evening. Bosco's five scores in one game ties the LC school record for goals in a game with four other student-athletes and her 11 points breaks the school's top mark.
Senior Kristen Melchoiri had two goals, while sophomore Dessi Dupuy had a goal and two assists. Shelley Hoath, Alexis Jensen and Sarah Schrader each also found the back of the net for LC. Dana Nelsen, Grace Withers and Mary Beier all had assists.
The Hornets held advantages in shots (41-3) and corner kicks (14-0). Jenni Beck made 11 saves for the Royals (3-13-1/0-11-1).
The win closes out the regular season for the Hornets, remaining unbeaten in conference play (9-0-3) and overall (16-0-3). LC will enter the 2012 ODAC Tournament as the #3 seed with a home game Saturday against #6 Randolph-Macon College, at a time to be announced. The semi-final round is Halloween Wednesday with the finals next Saturday, November 3. The two semi-final games will be hosted by the top two seeds left and the finals will take place at the top seed remaining.
