Six Hornets Named to ODAC/StellarOne Fall Sportsmanship Teams

FOREST, VA—The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) recently announced the ODAC/StellarOne Fall Sportsmanship Teams and six Hornets were recognized for their character and sportsmanship in the heat of competition.

Seniors Ben Tumolo and Kiley Trennepohl represent the Lynchburg men's and women's cross country teams. Tumolo, ran his fastest time of the season at the Christopher Newport Cross Country Invitational, crossing the line at 29:13.8. Trennepohl  led the women with a run of 23:19.37 at the South/Southeast Region, earning All-Region honors for the second straight year.

Senior Johanna Agustin is the Lynchburg field hockey representative on the ODAC/StellarOne Fall Sportsmanship Team. Agustin had two assists on the year, including one against Mary Washington in the NCAA Quarterfinals. She started all 23 games for LC, either at midfielder or defender.

Junior Scott Edwards made the men's soccer sportsmanship team. Edwards appeared in two games for the Hornets along the backline. An accounting major, Edwards' sportsmanship stands out whenever the Hornets take the pitch.

Senior Kristen Melchiori is the women's soccer representative for the Hornets. Melchiori had seven goals and five assists on the season. Her game-winning goal against Bridgewater in the ODAC Championship helped her garner All-Tournament First Team recognition.

Senior Molly Deacon rounds out the Lynchburg contingency on the ODAC/StellarOne Fall Sportsmanship Team, representing volleyball. Deacon's 384 digs led the Hornets, as did her 38 service aces. She played in every match for LC, contributing from her libero position.

The ODAC named 75 athletes in total to the ODAC/StellarOne Fall Sportsmanship Teams, covering men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, field hockey, and football.
