Fast and Furious Offense Leads Hornets to 6-2 Victory over E&H

EMORY, VA – A fast and furious offense that featured six straight goals led the 11th-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team to a 6-2 victory over Emory & Henry College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Tuesday afternoon.

Erin Benson started the scoring for the Hornets with less than 10 minutes to play in the first half. The freshman from Harrisonburg, Virginia ended up in the right place to finish off a Hornet corner kick, placing it perfectly into the left side of the goal.

Camille Bartley continued the scoring two minutes later when her laser went just past the outstretched hands of the Wasp keeper, Sarah Jerome. The goal came on Bartley's first career shot attempt in her first career match.

Dessi Dupuy added the next two Hornet goals to extend the lead to 4-0 and put the match away.

Jade Woll and Morgan Singer added goals for LC.  Karsen Schottleutner and Tess Frelick each contributed a save for Lynchburg. The Hornets maintained an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Jessi Biggs and Erica Merriman added two late goals for Emory & Henry (1-8-1/1-2-1). Vicki Fenley had three of the Wasps' five saves.

Lynchburg (8-1/3-0) returns home to play Christopher Newport University (5-1-1) in non-conference action Thursday at 4 p.m.
